With our jury, we want to nurture, protect, and communicate the importance of collaboration and Germany’s rich design heritage. The RIMOWA Design Prize jurors are an extension of the brand’s unique voice and values.

Regine Leibinger

Founder, Barkow Leibinger

Born in Stuttgart, Regine Leibinger received her master's degree in architecture from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, and a diploma in architecture from the Technical University, Berlin.

Since 1993, she has been leading the architectural practice Barkow Leibinger in Berlin together with Frank Barkow. The work of the firm has been featured in several exhibitions, with a retrospective at the Haus am Waldsee, Berlin 2020, including (among others) the 2008 and 2014 Venice Architecture Biennials, the 2012 Marrakech Biennial, and the 2017 and 2023 Chicago Architecture Biennials.

From 2006 to 2018, Regine Leibinger was Professor of Building Construction and Design at the Technische Universität Berlin. After visiting professorships at Harvard University, Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, Princeton University, School of Architecture in Princeton, and Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in Ithaca, New York, she was again appointed to Harvard University, Graduate School of Design in Cambridge in the fall of 2022.

Regine Leibinger is a leading figure in cultural institutions and committees, included as a member of the Architecture Section at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, a member of the Board of Trustees of IBA‘27- Internationale Bauausstellung 2027, Stuttgart, and a member of the Munich Urban Design Commission.

Also in 2022, Regine Leibinger founded the non-profit organization “Experimental”, which fosters projects that aim to discover new territories in the field of architecture with the goal to change how and with what we build.

Matthias Kulla

Director of Design Management Sportscars, Porsche

Born on the 1st of April 1962 in Kierspe, Germany, Matthias Kulla got into drawing and designing cars from an early age. The first step into the world of professional design was a two year stint at Target Design, a small but influential design studio located in Southern Germany – at that time without any formal design education.

With a Master of Design degree from the Royal College of Art in London he started his career as an automobile designer in 1987 at Audi. Just two years later Harm Lagaay offered him a position at Style Porsche, a chance too good to be turned down.

Matthias Kulla’s first project was the 989, a 4-door, 4-seater Porsche with the genes of a 911, for which Kulla was the lead exterior designer. Subsequent projects include the 986 Boxster interior, 996, Cayenne and Panamera exterior.

From 2000 to 2005 Matthias Kulla was department head of the Carrera Studio, thus responsible for the exterior design development of the 997 model range.

His promotion to Head of Exterior Design gave him responsibility for the teams entrusted with the design of the current Boxster/Cayman, Carrera, Panamera and Macan models.

Matthias Kulla is now Director of Design Management for all sports car projects at Style Porsche, the design department of the Porsche AG.

Susanne Graner

Head of Collection and Archive, Vitra Design Museum

Susanne Graner has been Head of Collection and Archive at the Vitra Design Museum since October 2010. She is in charge of developing and implementing strategies for its expansion and consolidation and oversees the conservation of the collection. Susanne Graner has also been involved in numerous exhibition projects at the Vitra Design Museum, including »Anton Lorenz: From Avant-Garde to Industry« (2019), »Here We Are! Women in Design 1900 – Today« (2021) an »Colour Rush – An Installation by Sabine Marcelis «(2022). She writes for specialist publications and magazines, gives lectures at universities and museums and is a member of the jury at design competitions and design fairs.

Susanne Graner holds a Master of Arts degree in Art Technology and Conservation Science from the Technical University of Munich.Previously, she was at Die Neue Sammlung / The International Design Museum Munich from 2006 to 2010, where she specialised in the use of plastics in design. She has worked as a conservator, both freelance and staff, for the workshops of the Bavarian Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and for the Bavarian Administration of Palaces, Gardens and Lakes.

Andreas Murkudis

Founder, Andreas Murkudis

Andreas Murkudis is considered one of Germany's most renowned and experienced retailers in the design and fashion sector. The owner of three stores of the same name in Berlin offers in his assortment unique objects, which transcend short-lived trend cycles and are of utmost quality. In the spacious architecture of his stores, Andreas Murkudis showcases designer fashion, objects, cosmetics, interior design and home accessories. 2022 marked the 20th Anniversary of the Andreas Murkudis universe. In the past two decades, the retailer has established himself as an indispensable driving force of Berlin's creative scene. 

Nina Sieverding & Anton Rahlwes

Founder/Editors, the thing magazine

Nina Sieverding is a creative director and the co-editor-in-chief of “the thing magazine”. Previously, she worked as the co-editor-in-chief of the renowned “form” magazine from 2020–2023. Nina studied Visual Communication and holds an MA degree in Integrated Design from the University of Arts Bremen. She currently teaches the History of Visual Communication at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach/Main.

Anton Rahlwes is a designer, artist, and journalist. He is co-founder of “the thing Magazine.” Prior to this, he worked as co-editor-in-chief of “form” magazine from 2020 to 2023. At his alma mater, FH Potsdam, he taught in the context of gender design. Additionally, he co-founded the Berlin-based furniture label OUT – Objekte unserer Tage. For the globally operating brand, he was responsible for the visual identity, created several designs, and developed trade fair appearances. Currently, he is studying aesthetic theory at Goethe University in Frankfurt Main and Korea University in Seoul, exploring the interconnectedness of physical artifacts and concepts of masculinities.

Benjamin Wilson

Industrial Designer & Communications Director, Braun

Benjamin Wilson, an industrial designer originally from Melbourne, Australia, has dedicated over two decades of his career to Braun. His journey began in 2003 when he joined the Braun Design team in Kronberg, Germany, where he now serves as Director of Communication. 

 With a deep appreciation for both Australian and German design, Benjamin has become a passionate advocate for Braun and Good Design. Over the years has taken on the mission of sharing the core philosophy of "Braun Haltung" not only within the company but also with the English-speaking world, reaching out to the next generations of entrepreneurs and designers alike. The Braun approach emphasizes utility, simplicity, and longevity in product design, shaping not only Braun's products but also the company's culture and iconic designs. 

Sebastian Herkner

Designer, Sebastian Herkner Studio

Sebastian Herkner (born 1981) studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design. During his studies he began to focus on designing objects and furniture, honing his keen sense for materials, colors and textures. For a short while he then worked for Stella McCartney in London. In the year 2006 Sebastian Herkner founded his own studio. Since that time, he has designed furniture, lamps and smaller items for manufacturers such as Ames, and Tradition, Cappellini, ClassiCon, Dedon, Ex.t, Fontana Arte, Gubi, Linteloo, Moroso, Pulpo, Rosenthal, Schramm Werkstätten, Thonet, Wittmann and Zanotta. Herkner also realizes interior architecture projects and museum and exhibition design. His works have won numerous accolades – among others the IF Award, the Iconic Award and the Elle Deco International Design Award (EDIDA). As Guest of Honor to imm cologne 2016, Sebastian Herkner provided the design for “Das Haus”. Maison&Objet has elected him 2019 “Designer of the Year”. In 2021 Sebastian Herkner won the most prestigious design award in Milan, the EDIDA award for Best Designer of the Year. 2022 Sebastian Herkner was one of the curators at Homo Faber next to Robert Wilson, Judith Clarke, Michele de Lucchi and Naoto Fukasawa commissioned by Michelangelo Foundation in Venice. 

Alexandre Arnault

Chairman, RIMOWA

Alexandre Arnault is Executive Vice President of Product and Communications at Tiffany & Co. Mr. Arnault assumed this position and joined Tiffany & Co. in January 2021. Mr. Arnault started his career in the United States in Strategic Consulting at McKinsey & Company, then in private equity at KKR in New York. He then joined LVMH and Groupe Arnault to focus on Digital Innovation. In this capacity, Mr. Arnault participated in the definition and implementation of a strategy to address the challenges of the development of E-commerce in the high-quality products sector. More recently, Mr. Arnault served as Chief Executive Officer of RIMOWA after initiating and leading its acquisition by LVMH in January 2017. Over the past four years, he successfully repositioned RIMOWA and elevated its brand image. At Tiffany & Co., Mr. Arnault has guided the repositioning of the brand through modern and innovative communications campaigns, as well as a focus on elevated and expanded product offerings. Mr. Arnault graduated from École Telecom ParisTech and holds a master’s degree from École Polytechnique.

Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert

Chief Executive Officer, RIMOWA

Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert is CEO of RIMOWA, a global leader in premium luggage. The historic German company was founded in Cologne in 1898 and has been part of LVMH since 2017. With more than 25 years at the LVMH Group, Hugues has held executive positions within five LVMH Maisons: Loewe, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Berluti, and RIMOWA. After joining RIMOWA as Executive Vice President Sales & Client Operations in 2018, he initiated and oversaw the repositioning of its distribution, along with the creation and rapid development of its e-commerce operations. He was appointed CEO in January, 2021.
